With the inauguration of ‘Jionet’, by chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat, the city wil benefit from high speed Wi-Fi service.
‘Jionet’ high speed Wi-Fi service will cover entire Mall Road, Landaur Bazar, Gunhill and Nagar Palika building.
As a part of the Uttarakhand government’s initiative to convert Mussoorie into a ‘Smart City’, people and visitors of Mussoorie will be able to experience and reap the benefits of high speed wireless connectivity on hand held devices i.e. smartphones and tablets through this Wi-Fi network from Reliance Jio.
Speaking on the occasion, Reliance Jio Infocomm spokesperson said, “High speed data connectivity is one of the foundations on which future prosperity of cities and nations will be built. We are proud to be associated with the government’s Smart City initiative. By deploying Jionet’ Wi-Fi services at Mussoorie, we want people to sample the digital ecosystem we are building consisting of high speed data networks, specially designed apps and rich content and understand how it can enrich their lives.”
The users’ feedback on the overall experience and network will be used to improve the services further as Jio gets ready for its formal launch. Once 4G LTE service commences, Wi-Fi and LTE networks will operate seamlessly with each other.
Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries (RIL), India’s largest private sector company is setting up an entire digital ecosystem. This consists of pan-India high speed data network, specially designed devices to run on this network, a wide variety of app — from news, entertainment, payment, business, healthcare and education – and rich content.
Jio is present in all of the 29 states of India, with a direct physical presence in nearly 18,000 cities and towns of our nation. Jio’s wireless footprint extends even further and covers over one lakh villages. This footprint will be expanded to cover nearly 80 percent of India’s population by the end of this year.
Jio has deployed a network of nearly 250,000 route kilometres of fibre optics, thereby creating a future-proof digital backbone across India. Over the next 3 years, Jio will more than double this fibre footprint by deploying fibre optics in the last mile.
Jio is currently in the pre-launch testing and stabilization phase of this large and complex network. Over the next few months, Jio will initiate an extensive beta launch involving millions of friendly customers across all our markets. This beta program will be upgraded into commercial operations around December of this year.
